The management of El-Kanemi Warriors paid its players their February salaries immediately the team returned from Umuahia on Friday after their week two league game against Abia Warriors.
The
match ended 2-1 in favour of Abia Warriors at the Umuahia Township stadium on
Wednesday.
According
to the team' media manager, Obaseki Anthony, it is part of management plans to
make sure that players' salaries are pay on 24th or 25th of every month.
"The
management is putting everything in place to make sure the players’ welfare is
well taken care of," Obaseki said.
The
players and officials will arrive in Makurdi on Monday ahead of their match day
four of the Nigeria Premier League on Wednesday against Lobi Stars.
El-Kanemi
Warriors match day three league game over the weekend was postponed due to Akwa
United CAF Confederation Cup competition.
Obaseki
said the team has put their back-to-back defeat behind them and ready to return
to winning ways, starting with the game against Lobi Stars on Wednesday.
"We
have put our two matches lost behind us and thank God that we have a good coach
that will lead us to the promise land. Coach Ladan Bosso is a sound coach and
our two games so far showed that we can make it. The league is still young as
our coach as earlier said. And it is premature to right off any team now,"
he added.
"It
is a new team and I believe from this match on Wednesday you will see new
El-Kanemi Warriors in action. We are
going to Makurdi as a wounded lion and you know what that means, the players
know how important this match mean to us and our fans in Makurdi will be there
to give us more support on Wednesday. It is going be a tough match,"
Obaseki declared.
