Heartland first win, a result of hard work, says Dike

Heartland Coach, Alphonsus Dike said his team's lone goal victory over Lobi Stars of Makurdi after five games was as a result of hard work and dedication.

``There is no doubt that the team started very poorly this season, but we are very now focused and determined to compete favourably this season,” Dike told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) shortly after the match.

He also commended the officiating of the game, saying the country’s league was now improving as the days got bye.

``The referee handled the match professionally without taking sides; I wish other referees will do the same in their other matches,’’ the coach said.

Heartland in Sunday’s game at the Dan Anyiam Stadium, Owerri, recorded the first win against Lobi Stars, after five games, since the beginning of the ongoing 2016 premier league season commenced.

Heartland player, Fortune Omoniwari, who scored the lone goal of the game in the 38 minute to help his side to claim three points, told NAN that he was dedicating the goal to the supporters of the club.

``We are very sorry for disappointing our fans at initial stages, but we are back in full force to make it up to our fans,” he said.
